About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Neonatal Consultant to join our team at University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust. As a key member of our neonatal service, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the development of our service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical leadership and expertise in neonatal medicine, ensuring the highest standards of patient care and safety.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and contribute to the development of service policies and procedures.
  • Supervise and mentor junior medical staff, providing guidance and support to ensure their professional development.
  • Contribute to the development of clinical guidelines and protocols, ensuring they are evidence-based and aligned with best practice.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, identifying areas for improvement and implementing changes to enhance patient care and service delivery.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless care transitions and optimal patient outcomes.
  • Contribute to the development of educational programs and materials, ensuring they are relevant and effective in supporting the learning needs of junior staff.
  • Participate in research and audit activities, contributing to the advancement of neonatal medicine and improving patient outcomes.
Requirements
  • MB BS or equivalent qualification in medicine.
  • Full GMC registration and a license to practice.
  • Fully accredited for Higher Specialist Training or eligible for inclusion on the Specialist Register within 6 months of the interview date.
  • MRCPCH or equivalent qualification.
  • Current BLS and NLS certification.
  • At least 18 months of middle-grade experience in neonatal intensive care.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
  • Membership of relevant specialist societies or associations.
  • Higher degree (MSc, MD, or equivalent) in a relevant field.
  • Hold a Neonatal Subspecialty CCT.
  • Experience in leadership and management, including team management and budgeting.
  • Proven track record of quality improvement and service development.
