Paediatric Surgeon with Lower Gastrointestinal Interest

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Paediatric Surgeon to join our team at the University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust. The successful candidate will have a special interest in Lower Gastrointestinal surgery and will be responsible for providing high-quality care to our patients.
Key Responsibilities- Support and participate in the tertiary paediatric surgical service in the Children's Hospital, including on-call duties.
- Work in collaboration with the existing multidisciplinary team to enhance and further develop the services provided for neonates and children in Leicestershire and beyond.
- Take responsibility for in and out-patients under the care of the named consultant.
- Provide cover when on call for patients of colleagues not available at the base site due to peripheral commitments.
- Maintain the paediatric surgery service at UHL and provide outreach services to peripheral hospitals.
- Support the neonatal services, which have an estimated 11,000 deliveries per year, making it one of the largest in the country.
- Provide support and supervision to junior staff, teach junior staff and medical students, and participate in the clinical governance and research activity of the unit.
We are looking for a candidate with the following qualifications and experience:
- MB BS or equivalent qualification.
- Full GMC registration.
- MRCP/MRCS or equivalent qualification.
- Current BLS certification.
- Membership of relevant specialist societies or associations.
- Higher degree (MSc, MD, or equivalent).
The ideal candidate will have excellent clinical skills and experience, with the ability to apply sound clinical judgment to problems. They will also have demonstrable skills in written and spoken English, with the capacity to take others' perspectives and treat others with understanding.
