Support Worker for Vulnerable Students

The School
A pupil referral unit (PRU) catering for students who are at risk of permanent exclusion. Most students have adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) and many have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). Ages range from primary to Key Stage 4.
Role/Responsibilities
Supporting students with significant social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs. You will be working in a primary or secondary site, depending on your experience and skills. Much of the role will involve therapeutic intervention to support self-regulation. You will be working one-on-one and with small groups.
Essential Criteria
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- High levels of patience and resilience
- Sensitivity and compassion
- Confident in managing challenging behaviour using a therapeutic approach
- Experience working with students who have ACEs and SEMH needs
Desirable Criteria
- Teaching Assistant qualification
