About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and ambitious Junior Buyer to join our Buying Team at Peacocks. As a Junior Buyer, you will play a key role in supporting the Buying Team in planning and implementing category strategy, ensuring that products are developed to optimize department profitability and support the wider company strategy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Creating and executing the buying strategy, including range building and product development.
  • Source, select, and negotiate with suppliers to obtain optimum product, prices, and terms of contract.
  • Taking ownership of critical path and deadlines, ensuring that any issues are raised and addressed promptly.
  • Participating in meetings at Director/Head of level to ensure effective communication of key information.
  • Reviewing and analyzing sales data to identify top-performing products and lines, ensuring data-driven decisions are made for future lines and intakes.
  • Keeping up-to-date with competitor and retail trends to inform product selection and recommendations.
  • Working with the merchandising team to optimize stock levels within budget guidelines.
  • Assisting in the training and development of junior members of the team.
  • Collaborating with other departments within the company to ensure the successful launch of new product lines and seasonal collections.
Requirements
  • Demonstrable fashion experience gained at a Senior Assistant Buyer level.
  • A good understanding of current fashion trends and market knowledge.
  • Excellent negotiation skills and the ability to build strong relationships with suppliers.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Organized and detailed-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple tasks, projects, and deadlines.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office packages.
