About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Enforcement Planning Officer to join our team at Mid Devon District Council. As a key member of our Planning Enforcement service, you will play a crucial role in ensuring compliance with planning regulations and laws.

Key Responsibilities

  • Enforce planning regulations and laws through effective communication and negotiation with landowners and developers.
  • Conduct site visits and investigations to identify breaches of planning control.
  • Prepare and serve enforcement notices and take enforcement action as necessary.
  • Work closely with colleagues across the council to ensure effective delivery of the Planning Enforcement service.

Requirements

  • Considerable experience in planning enforcement, ideally in a local authority setting.
  • Strong knowledge of planning regulations and laws, including the Town and Country Planning Act 1990.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to work effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a flexible approach to working hours.
