Role Summary

We are seeking a Youth Mental Health Clinical Psychologist to join our team at Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust.

Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity to work as a Clinical Forensic Psychologist in our Secure Children's Homes, providing specialist assessments and interventions to young people with complex trauma and risk issues.

The successful candidate will have a good honours degree in psychology, eligibility for British Psychological Society Chartered status, and a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology or completion of BPS Stage 2 Forensic Psychology (or equivalent).

You will work within a multidisciplinary mental and physical healthcare team, contributing to the provision of a high-quality, specialist psychology service for young people.

The post involves working alongside other Psychology colleagues to implement and embed formulation-led, trauma-informed care throughout both SCHs, in line with the NHS England SECURE STAIRS initiative.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct specialist assessments and interventions directly with young people, their families, and carers.
  • Work with adolescents and/or adolescent offenders, using Compassion Focused Therapy or interventions designed to work with trauma.
  • Implement trauma-informed care, including consultation, training, supervision, and formulation.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A good honours degree in psychology.
