Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and organized TB Nurse Specialist to join our proactive and supportive team at The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust. As a key member of our clinical team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality nursing care and participating in the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care needs for patients with tuberculosis.

Main Responsibilities
  • Ensure safe and effective clinical practice, adhering to established protocols and guidelines.
  • Enhance the patient experience by delivering compassionate, person-centered care and treating patients with dignity and respect.
  • Contribute to the delivery of the organization's objectives by participating in the development and implementation of clinical services.
  • Efficiently use resources to optimize patient outcomes and streamline clinical processes.
  • Provide high-quality nursing care, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care needs for patients with tuberculosis.
  • Deliver care that is tailored to the individual needs of patients, taking into account their medical history, social circumstances, and cultural background.
  • Play an active role in the continuing development of the department, contributing to the maintenance of a positive and supportive work environment.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless care coordination and effective communication.
  • Support patients in successfully completing their course of TB medication, providing education and guidance as needed.
  • Manage the risk of transmission, leading on the management of TB incidents and outbreaks.
  • Develop the service in line with local and national initiatives, staying up-to-date with best practices and evidence-based guidelines.
  • Supervise junior staff, teaching qualified and unqualified staff, including students, to ensure continuity of care and knowledge transfer.
  • Contribute to service development, business planning, and the clinical governance agenda, ensuring that patient care is at the forefront of decision-making.
Person Specification
  • Registered Nurse with a minimum of 12 months' experience.
  • Critical thinking, reflection, and analysis skills to inform clinical assessments and decision-making.
  • Flexible approach to meet the demands of the service, adapting to changing priorities and circumstances.
  • Presentation skills to communicate effectively with small and large groups, including patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
  • Respiratory knowledge and experience, with a strong understanding of TB diagnosis, treatment, and management.
