Role Overview

The Quarry Manager will oversee the safe and efficient running of a busy quarry, ensuring high standards of safety, productivity, and operational excellence.



Key Responsibilities
  • Manage, coach, and develop a skilled team to ensure business continuity and reduce risks.
  • Lead change and continuous improvement initiatives, maintain disciplined stock management, and produce operational reports.
  • Oversee budgetary control for all quarrying operations.
  • Implement and manage an effective maintenance scheme for quarry plant and equipment.
  • Maintain and enforce Standard Operating Procedures and risk assessments.
  • Supervise the safe operation and planned preventative maintenance of site equipment (fixed and mobile).
  • Investigate and report unsafe or hazardous practices.
  • Deliver safety briefings and toolbox talks to the team.
  • Proactively manage both mandatory and developmental training for staff.
  • Track and report monthly performance KPIs to drive operational performance.
Candidate Requirements

The ideal candidate will bring significant expertise in quarrying operations, alongside a deep understanding of the Quarry Regulations 1999 (Regulation 8.1d appointment).

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

  • A thorough understanding of Risk Assessments and Safe System of Work processes.
  • Knowledge of production processes and Health, Safety, and Environmental policies.
  • A SHE NVQ Level 4 or QCF Level 6 qualification.
  • Strong IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint (SAP knowledge advantageous).
  • A proven ability to multitask and manage change effectively.
  • An understanding of raw material extraction methods, including loading, transportation, and handling techniques.
  • Familiarity with crushing, screening, washing, and other beneficiation processes.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • IOSH/NEBOSH certification.
  • A Diploma in Quarry Technology or FdSc Extractives Technology.
