The NHS Gloucestershire Hospitals Foundation Trust is seeking a skilled and compassionate Nurse Clinician to join its Palliative Care Team. This team provides complex symptom control interventions and manages the needs of patients with life-threatening illnesses, as well as offering education and support to achieve improved end-of-life care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work as an autonomous practitioner within a multidisciplinary team, ensuring quality of life for patients with cancer or other life-threatening conditions requiring specialist palliative care.
  • Provide clinical leadership in assessing complex symptoms and psychological issues, supporting healthcare professionals with advice and guidance in accordance with national and local guidelines.
  • Educate and empower healthcare professionals to manage less complex problems through training and resource availability.

Registered nurses with experience in palliative care are required to fill this position. The successful candidate will work closely with the team to assess and manage patients with complex palliative care needs.

Qualifications and Experience
  • Registered Nurse qualification
  • Palliative care training
  • Advanced communication skills training or equivalent
  • Post-registration experience in various settings, including significant experience at Band 5 in specialist palliative care or caring for palliative patients in community or hospital settings
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills

This role requires a Disclosure and Barring Service check, which will be necessary for submission to verify any previous criminal convictions.
