About the Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic and detail-oriented individual to join our team as an Archive Assistant in the Lancashire Archives. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in providing a high-quality archive service for Lancashire.
Key Responsibilities
- Welcome and support customers and volunteers in our public searchroom, ensuring a positive and informative experience.
- Respond to written, telephone, and face-to-face enquiries from customers about our collections and services, providing accurate and helpful information.
- Utilize our collections management database to locate and retrieve information about our collections.
- Participate in outreach activities to promote our services and engage with the community.
- Support other teams within Lancashire Archives to deliver a range of services, including producing archives from strongrooms and returning them after use.
- Handle and care for unique historical materials with precision and attention to detail.
Requirements
- Deliver a customer-focused service, ensuring a positive experience for all users.
- Exhibit excellent communication and digital skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team and with limited supervision.
- Be able to lift and carry, with a focus on maintaining a safe and healthy working environment.
Working Arrangements
This is a permanent post based at Lancashire Archives in Preston, with a working pattern of 19 hours per week. The hours will be split across Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday (11am-3pm), and Friday (9am-5pm).
