About Your New Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Solicitor / Associate to join our Property Damage team in Manchester. As a key member of our team, you will support our clients in navigating complex property damage claims and provide expert advice on insurance coverage and policy wordings.

Main Responsibilities

  • Assist partners and senior lawyers with their caseloads, including subrogated recoveries from third parties and defence of claims made against policyholders.
  • Proactively manage cases with supervision, preparing detailed and technical reports, correspondence, and court documents.
  • Advise clients on issues of liability and coverage, liaising with insurer and insured clients, experts, witnesses, counsel, and other parties.
  • Ensure compliance with client service level agreements, relevant policies, and procedures.
  • Support business development initiatives and contribute to the completion of management information.
  • Develop and delegate tasks to trainees and paralegals, and assist with other work allocated by the Team Manager.

About You

  • 2-6 years' PQE or equivalent experience in insurance litigation and policy coverage analysis.
  • Experience of property damage claims and commercial insurance policies is essential.
  • Understanding of the insurance market, reporting arrangements, reserving philosophies, and the relationship between brokers, underwriters/insurers, and lawyers is essential.
  • Ability to work to deadlines, prioritize, and manage a caseload, and work under pressure to deliver effective solutions.
  • Strong legal and analytical skills, excellent organisation and time-management skills, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required.
