About the Role

We're seeking a talented Senior Design Engineer to join our client's team in Crewe. As a key member of the design team, you'll be responsible for leading the design process, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and meet all necessary standards and regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the design team in creating project documents, including drawings, risk assessments, design logs, and specifications.
  • Conduct site inspections, surveys, and technical reviews to ensure compliance with British and European Standards, Codes of Practice, and Railway Group Standards.
  • Focus on safety, sustainability, and environmental impact in all projects, including pushing forward 'Safe by Design' initiatives.
  • Organise and participate in design reviews, monitor project progress, and address technical questions from the team or clients.
  • Collaborate with other disciplines and external partners to deliver well-coordinated project results.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations to clients and project teams, and plan resource needs to keep projects on track.
  • Assume roles like Contractors Responsible Engineer (CRE) and project manager as needed to ensure timely and budget-friendly project delivery.
  • Manage team performance, conduct safety checks, and maintain your own and your team's professional development (CPD).
  • Represent the company at client meetings and events, ensuring all project paperwork is in order and that lessons are learned from past projects.
