Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry to join our team at Dorset HealthCare University NHS Foundation Trust.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality medical care to children and adolescents with mental health issues.
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement treatment plans.
  • Conduct assessments, diagnoses, and treatment of patients with complex mental health needs.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with patients, families, and carers.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest research, guidelines, and best practices in child and adolescent psychiatry.
Requirements
  • Hold a medical qualification (e.g. MBBS) and a Licence to Practise.
  • Have a CCT in Psychiatry or be on the Specialist Register.
  • Have Section 12(2) approval and Approved Clinician approval.
  • Have excellent clinical skills, knowledge, and experience in child and adolescent psychiatry.
  • Be able to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team and communicate effectively with patients, families, and carers.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
  • Qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research, or management.
  • Additional clinical qualification.
  • Experience of medicine outside psychiatry (e.g. general practice, medicine).
  • Teaching experience.
  • Wide range of specialist and sub-specialist experience relevant to the post within the NHS or comparable service.
