About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Recycling Centre Site Manager to join our team at Hertfordshire County Council. As a key member of our environmental services team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient and sustainable management of waste in our community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Site Management: Oversee the day-to-day operations of our recycling facility, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and maintaining a clean and efficient site.
  • Staff Management: Manage a team of operatives, providing guidance and support to ensure excellent customer service and high-quality work execution.
  • Customer Service: Provide expert advice to residents on proper waste disposal, promoting recycling awareness and best practices.
  • Process Optimization: Identify opportunities to improve customer service and recycling rates, implementing effective solutions to drive sustainability.
  • Health and Safety: Ensure the safe opening and closing of the site, maintaining a safe working environment for all staff and visitors.
  • Documentation and Administration: Manage all documentation for the site, both paper-based and computerized, ensuring accurate and up-to-date records.
About You

We are looking for a candidate with a proven track record of providing outstanding customer service and ensuring high-quality work execution. You will possess advanced interpersonal skills, be able to maintain composure under pressure, and work safely and effectively.

Desirable criteria include experience in driving a JCB (training will be provided) and holding first aider and fire marshal roles.
