Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Deputy Site Manager to join our team at Hertfordshire County Council. As a key member of our Recycling Centre service team, you will play a vital role in supporting the site manager and ensuring the smooth operation of our facilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Site Operations: You will be responsible for the safe opening and closing of the site, ensuring that all necessary procedures are followed and that the site is secure.
- Documentation Management: You will be responsible for managing all documentation for the site, including paper forms and computerized records, in the site manager's absence.
- Customer Service: You will provide excellent customer service to service users, ensuring that they are aware of the correct waste disposal procedures and are able to dispose of their waste correctly.
- Waste Management: You will be responsible for checking permits for vans and trailers, ensuring that only authorized waste is accepted, and preventing the mixing of waste streams.
- Health and Safety: You will maintain a clean and tidy work environment, ensuring that all health and safety procedures are followed, and that the site is free from hazards.
- Continuous Improvement: You will identify opportunities to improve customer service and recycling rates, and implement changes to achieve these goals.
- Training and Development: You will receive training on the use of JCBs and compactors, as well as other necessary skills, to ensure that you are equipped to perform your duties effectively.
About You:
We are looking for a candidate with a proven track record of delivering excellent customer service and a high level of work quality. You will have highly developed interpersonal skills, be able to remain calm under pressure, and work safely in all weather conditions.
You will have experience of working under prolonged periods of sustained physical effort and be able to support and manage a team of operatives. You will also be the first aider and fire marshal on site, and be able to operate the JCB for which training will be provided.
