About the Role

Oakleaf Partnership is representing a pioneering global law firm to recruit for a People & Culture Specialist to join their Early Careers team.

The Early Careers specialist will facilitate the smooth running of day-to-day training and development, assisting in attracting and recruiting top talent through campus engagement and events.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Early Careers team to manage all aspects of trainee solicitors' induction and onboarding.
  • Offer guidance and advice to trainees regarding best practices and procedures, emphasizing performance management and personal growth.
  • Coordinate seat moves, communicate with Trainee Partners, and escalate issues to the Senior HR Manager when needed.
  • Ensure the smooth operation of client and international secondment processes, ensuring seamless integration with the firm's global network.
  • Initiate appraisals and mid-seat reviews, providing support to supervisors as needed to drive performance and growth.
  • Conduct supervisor training and provide coaching for effective performance discussions, promoting a culture of open communication and feedback.
  • Oversee the supervision and performance of trainees with Trainee Partners and relevant HR managers, ensuring alignment with the firm's strategic objectives.
  • Enhance the graduate program's return on investment by refining candidate experience, attraction to the firm, selection and assessment processes, and the development of legal skills and practice.
  • Assist the early career team with screening application forms, interviewing candidates for vacation schemes and training contracts, and using feedback to inform hiring decisions.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in HR and the graduate/higher education market, with a strong understanding of best practices and employment law.
  • Confident communication skills and excellent relationship-building abilities at all levels, with a focus on building strong relationships with trainees, supervisors, and stakeholders.
  • Strong client focus and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Persuasive, confident, and hardworking, with the ability to manage workload independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexible and proactive with a positive attitude and ability to generate new ideas, with a focus on driving innovation and improvement in the Early Careers team.
  • Team player who contributes to the success of the Early Careers team, with a strong commitment to collaboration and teamwork.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), with experience in using HR systems and tools to manage recruitment and talent development processes.
