Job Summary: Altair Engineering is seeking a Design Release Engineer to join our Propulsion Systems team in Windsor, ON. This is a contract position.

As a Design Release Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and releasing components in support of powertrain integration. You will work closely with designers, CAE groups, suppliers, and manufacturing to ensure designs are robust for function and manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and release components and systems to ensure designs are robust for function and manufacturing
  • Work with designers, CAE groups, suppliers, and manufacturing to ensure designs meet requirements
  • Conduct center of excellence reviews for design robustness
  • Develop and maintain product design documentation
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure design and release processes are efficient and effective

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Applied Physics, or equivalent from an ABET accredited university
  • Experience with basic PC software (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project)
  • Knowledge of hardware release processes, DFMEA's, DVP's, and root cause analysis methodologies
  • High motivation, self-direction, and the ability to manage multiple complex projects
  • Occasional travel to the US for meetings (1 to 2 times per month)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master of Science in Applied Physics, Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, Industrial, or Computer Engineering, or related Engineering field from an ABET accredited university
  • Experience with 3D FEA and flow analysis
  • Green Belt in Design for Six Sigma methodology
