Job Title: Crime and Intelligence Analyst

West Midlands Police is seeking a highly skilled Crime and Intelligence Analyst to join their team. As a Crime and Intelligence Analyst, you will play a critical role in supporting the Regional Organised Crime Unit (ROCU) in reducing the impact of serious and organised crime.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Develop and maintain a strategic understanding of serious and organised crime threats, including drugs, firearms, acquisitive crime, child sexual abuse and exploitation, modern slavery and human trafficking, organised immigration crime, economic crime, and cybercrime.
  2. Research and investigate data to a high degree of depth to produce assessments and identify key offenders for potential ROCU operational activity.
  3. Produce a variety of reports to display findings, setting out an assessment of what the data demonstrates, containing inferences and recommendations for further action.
  4. Present reports and assessments to a wide range of audiences, including senior police officers.
  5. Maintain and demonstrate continuous professional development, including attending courses and conferences, and speaking with other subject matter experts to expand knowledge.
Requirements:
  1. Experience of research and analysis.
  2. Experience of negotiating and developing terms of reference, including identification of key data sets, scope, timescales, and product delivery.
  3. Ability to research and assimilate large amounts of data, and produce complex analytical reports.
  4. Ability to work with other teams and agencies to effectively gather and utilise data sources.
  5. Experience of developing and testing inferences and hypotheses to draw conclusions and make recommendations, in support of decision making.
  6. Highly competent in the use of Microsoft packages, advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
