Join BNY Mellon as a Senior Vice President and Vice President

Become a key member of our EMEA Tax Department, supporting the EMEA region and providing indirect tax advice globally. As a Senior Vice President and Vice President, you will be responsible for UK VAT compliance, working closely with our outsourced tax compliance provider and regional Finance teams.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage UK VAT compliance, including review of VAT returns, identifying risks, and implementing controls.
  • Partner with our outsourced tax compliance provider and regional Finance teams to manage indirect tax compliance in the EMEA region.
  • Advise on regional VAT implications for business change initiatives and evaluate new products, client, and vendor contracts.
  • Provide VAT advice on ad-hoc queries, ensuring a risk management and commercial focus.
  • Stay up-to-date with changes in VAT legislation and new indirect tax regimes through industry forums and external advisor relationships.
  • Provide indirect tax advice and training to Technology and Finance teams to ensure finance/billing system modifications meet VAT reporting obligations.
Requirements:
  • Qualified ACA / ACCA / CTA (or equivalent).
  • Proven tax experience in a large group environment or advisory firm.
  • Strong UK VAT technical background, some EU VAT knowledge, and system automation experience gained ideally in the financial services sector.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel. Experience with Oracle ERP is helpful.
  • An individual focused on accountability and operating within and enhancing the existing tax risk and control framework.
  • An analytical and process-driven individual with problem-solving skills and a risk-based approach to making decisions and recommendations.
  • A strong team player who enjoys working collaboratively and fostering stronger working relationships within the Corporate Tax Department, the wider business, and externally with our advisors and local tax authorities.
