Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate, authorize, and provide consultation on workers' compensation claims for assigned divisions, coordinating information among various stakeholders.
  • Advise employees on disability benefits and program procedures, managing short-term disability claims and facilitating transitions to long-term disability.
  • Administer health insurance, flexible spending accounts, and other benefits for designated divisions, including delivering benefits explanations during orientations and training sessions.
  • Support retirement benefits programs, respond to inquiries, counsel employees on retirement options, and manage retirement applications for assigned divisions.
  • Provide backup and assistance to other members of the benefits team, maintain accurate procedures, identify process enhancements, and handle workers' compensation reimbursements.

Essential Qualifications:

  • In-depth knowledge of workers' compensation, disability benefits, health benefits, retirement programs, deferred compensation, life insurance, FMLA, and other employee benefits programs.
  • Strong customer service, communication, time management, research, problem-solving, and Microsoft Office skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, manage projects independently, interpret policies, collaborate effectively, provide training, and analyze complex issues for resolution.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in administering a variety of benefits programs.

Additional Considerations:

  • Preference for experience with Cardinal HCM or Oracle PeopleSoft HCM, managing state benefits programs, including Virginia Retirement System plans, and possessing HR or benefits certifications (PHR, SHRM-CP, CEBS).
