Job Summary

Capital Group International Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Fixed Income Portfolio Strategist to join our team. As a key member of our investment management team, you will be responsible for driving portfolio strategy management efforts in Capital Fixed Income Investors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Portfolio Strategy Management: Contribute to portfolio implementation, strategy development, and process enhancements in Capital Fixed Income Investors.
  • Investment Strategy Delivery: Work with relevant mandate and fund portfolio managers to deliver fixed-income investment strategies to clients in various vehicles, overseeing the vehicles and their outcomes.
  • Top-Down Sector Expertise: Provide sector expertise to other portfolio strategists/investors.
  • Model Development: Create models, theses, and insights to shape top-down strategies.
  • Process Development: Develop and evolve processes for delivering solutions to a wide range of clients.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Influence others by demonstrating strong investment ability and communicating and engaging with colleagues.
  • Risk Management: Express perspectives on portfolio and sector risks.
  • Portfolio Construction: Independently construct fixed-income portfolios utilizing strong market, sector, and technical skills.
  • Portfolio Optimization: Develop portfolios that represent the return and risk profile of related CFII strategies.
  • Investment Execution: Ensure the timely and accurate execution of investment strategies across investment vehicles.
  • Team Representation: Represent the team by building partnerships, collaborating across business functions, and representing the team internally and externally.
  • Portfolio Construction Ideas: Generate portfolio construction ideas.
  • Investment Guidelines and Markets: Tactically navigate investment guidelines and markets to best represent CFII convictions.
  • Complex Portfolio Construction: Navigate complex portfolio construction needs amidst volatile markets, materials flows, and/or material guideline impacts.
  • Independent Decision-Making: Exercise independent decision-making without clear direction from a reference strategy.
  • Market Views: Have an opportunity to develop and share market views.
  • Team Capability Development: Help evolve the future of the team's capabilities to meet current and future needs.
Requirements
  • Experience: 5 to 10+ years of experience in the investment management industry, ideally in an investment strategist or portfolio construction role; experience working with fixed-income emerging markets investments will be preferred.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree required.
  • Knowledge and Skills: Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of portfolio construction, and knowledge of buy-side fixed income portfolio management.
  • Intellectual Curiosity and Analytical Skills: Demonstrate intellectual curiosity and analytical skills in areas of high complexity, ambiguity, and diversity.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Demonstrate the ability to collaborate and develop/maintain working relationships inside and outside the organization to enable effective completion of business objectives.
  • Judgment and Problem-Solving: Demonstrate sound judgment in resolving complex issues in a practical manner.
  • Communication and Influencing: Demonstrate effective and influential written and oral communication skills with a diverse group of associates and senior business leaders.

In addition to a highly competitive base salary, you will also be eligible for an individual annual performance bonus, plus Capital's annual profitability bonus, and a retirement plan where Capital contributes 15% of your eligible earnings.
