About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Laboratory Technician to join our team in the Department of Applied Sciences. As a Laboratory Technician, you will play a key role in supporting research and teaching activities in the Biosciences laboratories.

Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Providing technical support to students and staff in the Biosciences laboratories
  • Maintaining specialist laboratory spaces and equipment
  • Assisting in the delivery of high-quality technical services for research and teaching
  • Contributing to the provision of a professional support service by ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction
  • Working closely with the Senior Technician to respond to and resolve technical support issues and requests

About the Team

The Department of Applied Sciences is a dynamic and interdisciplinary team that specializes in biological and chemical sciences. We have a thriving undergraduate population of approximately 1,500 students and a strong research culture with over 80 academics researching in the above areas.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have experience of working in specialist laboratory, workshop or studio facilities with the relevant skills, techniques processes, and procedures. You will also have experience of receiving and responding to enquiries from/to customers, providing support in a technical context, and practical experience of undertaking or contributing to health and safety activities such as risk assessment and/or COSHH.
