Main Duties and Responsibilities

The successful applicant will be responsible for providing expert advice on health, safety, and regulatory compliance within the laboratories run by the School. This will involve assisting in the development of Health and Safety policy, preparing materials and equipment for practical classes, and supporting specialist techniques in a laboratory environment. The role will also require the ability to promote Health, Safety, and Regulatory Compliance within the School in a professional manner, focusing on the strategic objectives of the School and University.

Key Skills and Experience

  • Considerable practical experience working in a laboratory in a relevant subject, e.g. Chemistry, Biology, STEM in a technical role.
  • Experience in the completion of COSHH Risk Assessments and Health and Safety management in a subject relevant to STEM.
  • Strong IT skills and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • A good understanding of customer care and the ability to put this into practice.
  • A positive "can do" attitude, flexibility, and adaptability in approach.

Qualifications Required

A minimum of a Degree in STEM, Chemistry, Biology subject or related subject or equivalent work experience.

The University is required to meet UKVI visa regulations and is not able to sponsor for this position. Applicants who do not currently have the right to work in the UK will have to satisfy UKVI regulations before they can be appointed.
