Procurement Specialist for Direct Materials

About the Role

Abcam is seeking a skilled Procurement Specialist to join our team on a 13-month fixed-term contract for maternity cover. As a key member of our Direct Materials category, you will be responsible for managing daily interactions and sourcing responsibilities with a group of suppliers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create RFQs and conduct benchmark analysis to ensure a competitive supply base
  • Assist with day-to-day procurement operations and support Cross-Functional Review Boards
  • Conduct and organize supplier meetings and SRM reviews, and perform due diligence to assess new suppliers
  • Support the Quality and Supplier Excellence team on Supplier Audits and manage contract negotiations with selected suppliers
  • Develop internal stakeholder management relationships and contribute to procurement annual cost-saving targets
  • Provide day-to-day procurement support to the Global Sourcing Director and Global Category Lead
  • Support the company-wide quality initiative to reduce complaint rates for high-complaint suppliers
  • Work cross-functionally with internal teams to resolve queries and manage purchase order, invoice, and contract discrepancies

Requirements

  • 2-4 years of experience in a Procurement role, preferably in the biotechnology/pharmaceutical/life sciences industries
  • Evidence of strong supplier relationship activities and performance measurement
  • Strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work in a fast-paced, global team environment
  • Proficient with computer-based technology, including Microsoft Excel, Word, and Oracle Cloud applications
