Clinical or Counselling Psychologist Position

Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical/Counselling Psychologist to join our dynamic team at NELFT North East London Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality psychological services to children and adolescents with emotional and mental health problems.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience of working with difficult, disturbed, or challenging children/young people requiring skilled and complex interventions. They will also have experience of working therapeutically with parents/carers/families of children and young people with complex mental health problems.
The post holder will be an effective team member, using their own initiative, supporting their peers and team lead. They will have a commitment to actively support, liaise with other professionals & agencies as we embed a trauma and culturally informed model of practice within the service.
Main Duties of the Job
- Provide an efficient, effective, comprehensive and specialist psychological service for children and adolescents with emotional and mental health problems, their carers/parents and families.
- Contribute to multi-disciplinary assessment and treatment of children and adolescents with emotional and mental health problems, their carers/parents and families.
- Undertake a range of highly specialist clinical work, urgent assessment work, parenting support and specialist cases.
- Provide extensive expert supervision and consultation on CYPMHS cases to other multi-disciplinary staff within CYPMHS, including junior medical staff.
- Contribute to audit and research.
- Actively engage in treatment and outcome monitoring, including the use of normed measures associated with CYP-IAPT.
- Work in clinical practice, making use of supervision, within the overall framework CYPMHS and the Trust's policies and procedures.
About the Role
The successful candidate will receive regular clinical supervision from the lead psychologist and be expected to attend and participate in MDT team meetings. They will also have the opportunity to contribute to service development and participate in audit and research.
Person Specification
Essential Qualifications
- To be eligible for registration as a full member of the appropriate professional body (HCPC, BACP, UKCP, AFT, ACP).
- Successful completion of a post-graduate training in psychological practice (art psychotherapist, psychologist, family therapist, child and adolescent psychotherapist).
Essential Experience
- Extensive experience of working with difficult, disturbed or challenging children/young people requiring skilled and complex interventions.
- Extensive experience of working therapeutically with parents/carers/families of children and young people with complex mental health problems.
- Experience of carrying out generic assessment with other colleagues in the multi-disciplinary team.
Essential Knowledge
- High level knowledge of the theory and practice of short term and long term in clinical interventions in CAMHS/EWMHS.
- Knowledge of legislation in relation to children and adolescents and safeguarding procedures and policies.
- Knowledge of NHS, Social Care and Education structures, national policies and frameworks, evidence based practice including NICE guidelines.
