Job Title: Consultant General/Laboratory Haematologist

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant General/Laboratory Haematologist to join our team at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing clinical and laboratory services in haematology, with a focus on laboratory haematology at the John Radcliffe Hospital.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide clinical and laboratory services in haematology, with a focus on laboratory haematology at the John Radcliffe Hospital.
  • Work with a team of five consultant haematologists to provide routine, flow, and molecular laboratory support.
  • Contribute to laboratory aspects of registrar training in laboratory haematology.
  • Provide routine laboratory support for training doctors on a rotational basis.
  • Work with the transfusion consultants and wider team to ensure best transfusion practice across OUH.

Person Specification:

  • Membership or Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians or evidence of equivalent qualification.
  • Fellowship of the Royal College of Pathologists or evidence of equivalent qualification.
  • Full and specialist registration (and a licence to practise) with the General Medical Council (GMC) (or eligible for registration within six months of interview).
  • Applicants that are UK trained, must ALSO be a holder of a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT), or be within six months of award of CCT by date of interview. Applicants that are non-UK trained, will be required to show evidence of equivalence to the UK CCT.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience:

  • PhD/MD with focus on laboratory haematology, immunophenotyping or molecular haematology, or other related discipline.
  • Experience in laboratory haematology across the laboratory-clinical interface. Experience with flow cytometry.
  • Can demonstrate ability to work independently and take accountability for own actions.
