Job Title: Heritage Sub Assembly Technician

This is a unique opportunity to join the MoneyGram Haas F1 Team as a Heritage Sub Assembly Technician. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for the assembly, servicing, and repair of our Heritage Cars, ensuring they are in top condition for events and exhibitions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assemble and maintain Heritage Cars to the highest standards, adhering to strict technical specifications.
  • Collaborate with the Heritage Lead Mechanic and other team members to ensure seamless workflow and efficient project delivery.
  • Mentor and train junior team members, sharing your expertise and knowledge to develop their skills.
  • Develop and implement processes to improve workflow efficiency, ensuring timely completion of projects.
  • Report any reliability issues or concerns to the Heritage Lead Mechanic, seeking guidance and advice when necessary.
  • Ensure the cleanliness and organization of your work area, maintaining a safe and healthy working environment.
  • Follow strict engineering procedures and protocols to ensure the safe operation and maintenance of Heritage Cars.
  • Accountable for the build, condition, and maintenance of sub-assembled components, ensuring they meet the highest standards and specifications.
  • Responsible for the assembly of Heritage Cars to correct specifications and allocations, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Manage the allocation and service life tracking of sub-assembled parts, working closely with the RTS Chief Mechanic and current car allocations.
  • Manage stock levels of components, spares, and consumables, working closely with the Race Team and Race Team Support to ensure minimum trackside quantities are always met.
  • Align with the Heritage Lead Mechanic to ensure all relevant specs of sub-assembly components are packed or built in readiness for Heritage events.
  • Accountable for the parts, spare parts, tooling, garage equipment, and other operational equipment associated with Heritage projects, ensuring all equipment is readily available and packed to support relevant events.
  • Work closely with the Design Office and Reliability Engineers on faults to ensure all actions/remedies are in place and to offer solutions/fixes or plans to ensure there are no repeat occurrences.
  • Have a good understanding of all car parts, processes, and procedures, ensuring compliance with regulations and team expectations.
  • Follow Lifing and UIIL requirements to ensure full compliance is met in line with regulations and team expectations.
  • Assist and support chosen departments to facilitate Turnarounds, Engineering Projects, Car Builds, and Event Support.
  • Assist in the planning and managing of any rig testing throughout the season, such as K&C or 7 Post.
  • Ensure the teams Show Cars and Race Bay presentation meets corporate branding guidelines and expectations.
  • Expected to undertake NDT training and certification to be able to support on event if required.
  • Support the Race Team and RTS Departments when required.
  • Expected to be able to take part in Pit Stops.
  • Follow all safety regulations in all venues.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Heritage Lead Mechanic or their designee.
Requirements:
  • GCSE, High School diploma or equivalent required. Further education including trade school, appreciating or university degree desired.
  • Previous experience in a similar mechanical role within Formula 1, World Sports Cars, or F2 is preferred – however consideration will be given to a candidate who can demonstrate professionalism and a sound record of service within the Motorsport Industry.
Specialized Knowledge and Skills:
  • Strong problem-solving, logical thinking with research and reporting skills are essential.
  • A comprehensive mechanical understanding gained in Formula 1 motor racing.
  • Strong communication skills, written and verbal.
  • An ability to read and interpret technical drawings and information pertaining to assembly, periodic updates, and modifications.
  • The ability to consistently work to the highest standards with an exceptional attitude towards attention to detail.
  • Basic fabrication and machining skills.
  • Work to a consistently high standard in stressful and time-sensitive situations.
  • A sympathetic approach to your work colleagues and an ability to integrate within a group environment.
  • A can-do positive approach and a willingness to help others is essential.
  • Communication, ability to work under pressure, self-motivation, time management, conflict resolution, adaptability, willingness to learn, etc.
Equipment and Applications:
  • Solid computer knowledge, preferred experience in Microsoft Office products, Microsoft Dynamics AX, and 3DX.
  • Mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to follow complex regulations related to shipment of materials and facility maintenance requirements.
Work Environment Physical Demands:

An ability to work and prioritize within a high-pressure, time-sensitive environment while retaining a methodical approach is essential. The role may require extensive domestic and international travel and a willingness to work long and flexible hours, including weekends.

This position may require lifting to 50 pounds, repeated bending, squatting, and manual dexterity. Fast-paced work environment requiring heavy mental demands. Work environment includes machinery, race cars, 7-post, and other rigs, grinding debris, and hazardous fluids. All employees must ensure compliance with the Company Health and Safety Policy, and all relevant other statutory Health and Safety legislation.
