About the Role

We are seeking a highly organized and communicative Ward Clerk to provide administrative support to our nursing and clinical teams across all wards. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our ward environment, providing exceptional patient care, and supporting the delivery of quality services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as a point of contact for patients, relatives, and carers, providing a high level of customer service and support.
  • Provide a full range of general clerical and administrative duties, including answering the telephone, dealing with visitors, and ensuring patient discharges and follow-ups are appropriately actioned.
  • Demonstrate an empathetic nature towards patients, relatives, and colleagues, providing a supportive and caring environment.
  • Possess excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and competing demands.
  • Be resilient and adaptable, with a flexible approach to meeting the needs of the service.
Requirements
  • Good communication skills, with the ability to interact with patients, relatives, and colleagues at all levels.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships and work effectively as part of a team.
  • Excellent keyboard skills, with the ability to accurately and efficiently complete administrative tasks.
  • IT skills, with the ability to use a range of software applications and systems.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, with the ability to understand and use relevant terminology in a healthcare setting.
  • Basic typing skills, with the ability to accurately and efficiently complete administrative tasks.
  • Customer care skills, with the ability to provide exceptional customer service and support.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
  • Experience in working with computers, with a strong understanding of IT systems and software applications.
  • Working in a healthcare setting, with a strong understanding of the principles and practices of healthcare.
  • Previous experience of working within a clerical environment, with a strong understanding of administrative procedures and protocols.
