We are seeking a highly skilled Patient Safety Portfolio Manager to join our team at Essex Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust. This is a hybrid role, working from home and our Head Office location, The Lodge in Runwell.

About the Role

The purpose of this position is to support the delivery of the Trust's Patient Safety Incident Response Plan (PSIRP) by undertaking and contributing to high-quality patient safety incident reviews. This involves identifying and embedding learning from patient safety incidents across the organisation.

You will work autonomously as a patient safety lead and in conjunction with subject experts and operational colleagues, escalating any identified risks and immediate safety actions to the Deputy Director of Quality and Safety and Nurse Consultant for safety / Patient Safety Specialist.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review Care Unit Datix daily to identify potential safety concerns.
  • Support weekly patient safety oversight groups and coordinate responsibilities to ensure timely completion of tasks.
  • Contribute to quality control and oversight prior to sign-off of patient safety investigations, action plans, and DMTs.
  • Analyse and interpret complex clinical and safety situations to inform safety improvement plans and quality and safety meetings.
  • Support learning events and coordination of evidence of learning.
  • Oversight of action plan actions and revisiting learning impact and sustainability.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Literacy in IT/computer skills.
  • Good oral and written communication skills based on fluency in the English language.
  • Shares the Trust's beliefs and models this in their attitude and behaviour.
  • Fitness analysis as appropriate.
  • A current driving license.
  • Ability to travel across sites and across Trust boundaries to attend meetings.
