Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Sample Machinist & Fitter to join our team at Emilia Wickstead. As a key member of our Atelier, you will be responsible for creating high-quality sample garments, bridal gowns, and other luxury women's clothing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Produce high-quality sample garments with exceptional finishing techniques and skills.
  • Work closely with garment technologists, pattern cutters, and the workroom manager to maintain sampling standards.
  • Advise the product developer and pattern cutters on potential construction problems.
  • Ensure all products are made to the highest quality standards.
  • Alter all types of women's clothing, including bridal dresses.
  • Inspect all garments to verify pristine condition before final delivery to clients.
Store Fittings
  • Conduct weekly in-store fittings with RTW, VIC, and VIP clients.
  • Be highly presentable in-store on fitting days.
  • Take notes and photos of client alterations required and communicate clearly and effectively.
  • Liaise with the Head of MTO and MTMB for fitting days and ensure the alterations room is consistently maintained in a clean and well-organized manner.
  • Press, steam, and spot clean garments/merchandise as needed.
  • Perform quality control and inspect all garments to verify pristine condition on the shop floor and before final delivery to clients.
Requirements
  • Minimum 7-10 years of experience working with bridal wear or couture and high-end luxury women's wear.
  • Extensive garment construction knowledge and experience working with luxury fabrics, including silk twill, double satin, silk satin, chiffon, crepe, and lace.
  • Excellent understanding of fit and garment construction.
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and multitask across changing priorities.
  • Flexibility required at peak times to manage workload.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Clear and concise communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain a calm and positive attitude and work hard to fulfill the company's needs.
