Job Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Teaching Assistant to join our team at a special school in Cheltenham. The successful candidate will have a strong background in supporting students with special educational needs and disabilities.

About the Role:

The Teaching Assistant will be responsible for providing individualized support to students with a range of special needs, including communication and interaction, cognition and learning, sensory and physical needs. The ideal candidate will be flexible, reliable, and able to work effectively in a team environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individualized support to students with special educational needs and disabilities
  • Assist teachers with lesson planning and implementation
  • Support students with personal care and daily living skills
  • Communicate effectively with students, teachers, and parents
  • Contribute to a positive and inclusive school environment

Requirements:

  • At least 1 year of experience working with special needs and disabilities
  • Special school experience preferred
  • Full-time availability (preferably long-term)
  • Flexibility, reliability, positivity, patience, and confidence
  • Ability to deal with challenging behavior
