Procurement Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Procurement Specialist to support our project management team and other departments with efficient and value-for-money purchasing practices. The ideal candidate will have a good understanding of procurement law and be proficient in using Microsoft Office, particularly in databases and spreadsheets.
Key responsibilities include:
- Agreeing favorable credit terms and discounting with suppliers
- Raising purchase orders and maintaining our ordering platform
- Integrating with project planning resources and providing updates on long-lead-time items and potential issues
- Identifying plant or equipment shortages and suggesting alternatives
- Assisting in vesting of materials and prompt payment activities to preserve cash flow
- Working with Goods In and Goods Out to ensure purchases are correct and working with suppliers to remediate mistakes and misquantities
- Assisting in providing technical information, datasheets, and obtaining quotes for others to accurately price jobs
- Assisting in trending of material prices to identify risks in tendering opportunities
- Able to demonstrate a risk-assessed approach to procurement to ensure resilience and best value
- Other general administrative tasks required to support the team
Desirable attributes, skills, and experience include:
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, particularly in using databases and spreadsheets
- Working knowledge of procurement law
- Good working understanding of mechanical and electrical parts and components
- CIPS Procurement Certificate desirable
- Well-organized and dependable
- Able to work independently and be a team player
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written (English language)
