Head of Docking and Maintenance

The Head of Docking and MRO will be responsible for developing and maintaining the overall docking strategy for the fleet, managing commercial framework agreements, and overseeing budgets for dockings. They will also manage programme risk, develop substitute vessel provision agreements, and negotiate large docking contracts. Additionally, they will ensure an outage programme that matches the available budget, statutory docking cycle, and availability requirements.
Key Accountabilities- Develop and maintain overall docking strategy for the fleet.
- Manage commercial framework agreements and long-term relationships.
- Manage overall budgets for dockings, including forecasting and delivery.
- Manage programme risk for dockings overall.
- Develop and manage substitute vessel provision agreements.
- Negotiate large docking contracts to be commercially advantageous.
- Ensure outage programme matches available budget, statutory docking cycle, and availability requirements.
- Overall responsibility for outage and docking process for the fleet.
- Source financial forecasting for contract outage requirements.
- Oversight of engineering budgets and reporting compliance with QDC and SSCR cost requirements.
- Analysis of engineering data to suggest improvements to contract performance.
- Supporting resource planning in SDAs to deliver docking solution.
- Definition of processes and policies for docking solution.
- Compliance with regulatory requirements from Flag, Class, MCA, DMR, and other authorities.
- Lead planned maintenance strategy for existing and new vessels.
- Ensure system for compliance with standards for all vessels.
- Ensure high technical quality of docking work and set standards for yards.
- Oversee maintenance of assets in accordance with commercial practice.
- Provide engineering authority for changes to vessels and decisions on engineering issues.
- Carry out gap analysis of current situation and develop get-well plan.
- Plan towards new target operating model.
- Integration of existing and new ways of working for the fleet.
The ideal candidate will have experience in docking, refit, and repair of small to medium-sized commercial vessels, with + years of senior management experience in maritime design and/or engineering programs. They will also have experience of commercial shipyard contracting, understanding of Class, Flag, and Naval Requirements, and detailed marine engineering knowledge. Additionally, they will be able to achieve SC Clearance.
