Acute Paediatric Speech and Language Therapist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Speech and Language Therapist to join our Acute Paediatric team at University Hospital Southampton NHS Trust. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality speech and language therapy services to babies and children with complex communication and swallowing difficulties.
Key Responsibilities- Work as part of the Acute Paediatric SLT team, across a range of specialist areas, including general paediatrics, neurology, complex feeding, respiratory, ENT, and instrumental assessment.
- Provide regular communication and swallowing assessment and therapy to babies and children with complex needs.
- Represent the SLT service within Paediatrics and contribute to multidisciplinary team service initiatives.
- Support patients to have instrumental assessment of their swallowing and offer training and support to less experienced SLTs and other staff.
- HCPC registered speech and language therapist with a degree or equivalent in Speech and Language Therapy.
- Masters level qualification or equivalent experience.
- Experience of working with babies and children with complex communication and swallowing difficulties.
- Experience of working in an acute setting and using instrumental assessments such as FEES and/or VF.
- Ability to communicate complex information fluently, confidently, and effectively to a diverse range of people.
- Ability to demonstrate a practical and sensitive approach and flexibility in working style when applying clinical judgement to complex clinical issues.
