Locum Consultant in Respiratory Medicine Role Overview

We are seeking a locum consultant in respiratory medicine to join our team at East Kent Hospitals Uni. NHS Foundation Trust.

The ideal candidate will have relevant experience at Consultant level, or references to support their transition up to Consultant level, and be GMC registered.

The salary for this role is £100 - £125 per hour (PAYE), offering a competitive income for the right candidate.

About the Role:

  • Diagnosis and Treatment: Provide particular expertise in diagnostic reasoning and acute exacerbations of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
  • Team Collaboration: Be a pillar of clinical and educational support for junior doctors and trainees.
  • Leadership Opportunities: Work in and where appropriate, lead a multidisciplinary team.

Main Responsibilities:

  1. Communicate clinical information to explain a diagnosis and treatment options to patients.
  2. Coordinate treatment plans and prescribe various types of treatment.
  3. Provide constant monitoring and care for patients.
  4. Communicate with patients and the wider multidisciplinary team on shared patient decision making.
  5. Assess and prioritise patient/client requirements, delegating effectively to others.
  6. Recognise, review, and report a patient's condition and any changes to the patient and the multidisciplinary team.
  7. Perform basic administrative and clerical tasks, such as keeping records of test results, writing prescriptions, providing information to patients, and monitoring treatment plans.
  8. Conduct research to help develop and test techniques and equipment that can improve procedures and outcomes.
  9. Help teach and train other junior doctors and medical students and other members of the multidisciplinary team.

Requirements:

  • GMC registration.
  • Relevant experience at Consultant level, or references to support their transition up to Consultant level.
  • Able to pass an enhanced background check (DBS).
  • Hold evidence of stand-alone Right to Work in the UK.
