Fertility Nurse Specialist

- The post holder will have the responsibility for the daily co-ordination of the Gynaecology Emergency Assessment Clinic and Fertility Unit at Northampton General Hospital.
- The post holder will work as part of a multidisciplinary team supporting all members of the team ensuring that care is delivered in line with current NICE Guidelines and local Trust protocols.
- The post holder will promote nurse led care in partnership with other health professionals.
- The post holder will be responsible for the development of both their role and other members of the team roles in order to both improve the service and maintain current service levels and practice according to the Nursing and Midwifery code of conduct.
This is a band 6 role progressing onto a band 7 role once competencies have been met and budget approved.
The post holder is required to provide high quality, individualised care and advice to all patients accessing the services.
Responsibilities- Supporting Clinical Excellence
- Be a clinical expert in diagnosis, treatment and care with excellent assessment and interpersonal skills.
- Act autonomously and have the skills to support in the development of protocols and care pathways.
- Assess, implement and evaluate individualised strategies to manage the physical, psychological and emotional needs of patients attending the clinic.
- Assess capacity, gain valid consent and have the ability to work within the legal framework with patients who lack capacity to consent to treatment.
- The post holder will have 6 months Gynae/Fertility experience.
- The post holder will have a counselling qualification.
- The post holder will have the ability to independently plan, assist and evaluate the patients care pathway.
