Haemoglobinopathy Specialist Nurse

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Haemoglobinopathy Specialist Nurse to join our team at Northampton General Hospital. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will provide specialist nursing support to adults with Haemoglobinopathy disorders, ensuring the highest quality of care and promoting patient-centered care.
Main Duties- Provide specialist nursing support to adults with Haemoglobinopathy disorders, utilizing unit protocols and trust policies and guidelines.
- Work collaboratively with the multi-professional team to provide patient-focused Haemoglobinopathy services, initiating different forms of treatment for adults and their families in various settings.
- Develop and promote working partnerships between the Trust and academic staff at local universities involved in nursing and multi-professional programs of education.
- Act as a visible, accessible, and assertive clinical expert, providing assistance, expert advice, and support to staff and users.
- Manage a delegated caseload of patients, delivering individualized and personalized direct patient care.
- Support the Haemoglobinopathy Specialist Nurse Manager in managing allocated resources, ensuring cost-effective usage of essential supplies.

- Provide clinical expertise, specialist advice, and support across the whole spectrum of the service.
- Demonstrate specialist knowledge, skills, and innovative practice in the specialist area, ensuring the delivery of appropriate evidence-based care.
- Support, assist, and encourage the multi-disciplinary team in resolving complex patient problems, providing new and innovative models of case management.
- Promote the philosophy of patient-centered care and establish and maintain a supportive relationship with the patient and their family at all times.
- Support the manager in ensuring appropriate systems are in place to evidence ongoing compliance with local and national policies as required for CQC standards.
- Actively participate in audit and research and benchmarking activities to ensure effective, safe, and evidence-based practice.
- Promote and encourage nursing practice research in all relevant clinical areas.
- Promote the speciality by publishing and presenting innovations and research findings locally and nationally.
- Actively promote the specialist service throughout the Trust by establishing robust networks and links with Clinical Governance and Audit teams.
We are looking for a candidate with the following essential skills and qualifications:
- Relevant clinical experience at band 5 or above.
- Specialist knowledge and experience within the area of speciality.
- Evidence of autonomous practice.
- Holds an NMC pin.
- Evidence of post-registration education and development to Postgraduate level or equivalent level of education, training, or experience.
Desirable qualifications include:
- Educated to Degree level or equivalent level of education, training, or experience.
- Clinical Leadership Programme.
