We are seeking a Hospital Optometrist to join our team at SpaMedica's Swansea clinic.

As a Hospital Optometrist at SpaMedica, you will be part of a team that prioritizes patient care over sales targets or performance metrics. You will also have access to comprehensive training and support from senior optometrists.

You will be working alongside our 150-strong hospital optometrist team, supporting cataract services across various clinics, including pre-op, post-op, and YAG laser treatments. Additionally, you will have opportunities to develop skills in areas like Medical Retina, Glaucoma, and private services like Freedom Vision. Flexible working arrangements, including occasional work-from-home options, are available.

This role is ideal for optometrists who enjoy variety, have a passion for ocular disease, and want to develop advanced skills such as YAG laser treatment.

About the Role:

  • Perform pre and post-operative assessments for cataract surgery patients
  • Conduct pre-op assessments for YAG laser capsulotomy referrals
  • Obtain informed consent in a professional and ethical manner
  • Participate in on-call and weekend rotas as needed
  • Ensure clinical areas are prepared with equipment checked before and after clinics
  • Complete basic life support and manual handling training
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in daily clinic operations

Requirements:

  • A qualified optometrist with current GOC registration
  • Passionate individuals who have developed themselves with higher qualifications
  • Previous hospital experience is beneficial but not essential – comprehensive training provided
