Hospital Optometrist Role Overview in Swansea, UK: We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Hospital Optometrist to join our team at SpaMedica. As a key member of our 150-strong hospital optometry team, you will have the opportunity to develop advanced skills, work from home on occasion, and support our cataract service across multiple clinics. The ideal candidate will possess excellent clinical knowledge, strong communication skills, and a passion for delivering high-quality patient care. With a competitive salary ranging from £50,000 to £60,000 per annum, this role offers a unique chance to grow professionally while contributing to a dynamic and caring team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for performing pre- and post-operative assessments for cataract surgery patients, including obtaining informed consent in a professional and ethical manner. They will also conduct pre-op assessments for YAG laser capsulotomy referrals, participate in the on-call and weekend rota as needed, and ensure that clinical areas are ready with equipment checked before and after clinics. Additionally, they will complete basic life support and manual handling training and collaborate with the multi-disciplinary team in the day-to-day operations of the clinic.
