About Us
SpaMedica is the UK's largest provider of NHS cataract surgery. Our team of 150 hospital optometrists supports our cataract service, covering a range of clinics, including pre-op, post-op and YAG laser treatments.

We are looking for an experienced Hospital Optometrist to join our team at Swansea. As a Hospital Optometrist at SpaMedica, you will be part of a caring, community-focused team involved in charity work. You will have the opportunity to grow, learn new skills and advance your career.

Your Role:
As a Hospital Optometrist, you will perform pre and post-operative assessments for cataract surgery patients, conduct pre-op assessments for YAG laser capsulotomy referrals and obtain informed consent in a professional and ethical manner. You will participate in the on-call and weekend rota as needed and ensure your clinical area is ready, with equipment checked before and after clinics. You will also complete basic life support and manual handling training and collaborate with the multi-disciplinary team in the day-to-day operations of the clinic.

What We Are Looking For:
We are seeking a qualified optometrist with current GOC registration who is passionate about learning and has developed themselves with higher qualifications. Previous hospital optometry experience is a plus but not essential as we provide full training.

Benefits:
You will receive a competitive salary of £52,488 - £59,987, 33 days' holiday (inclusive of bank holidays) increasing with length of service and performance bonuses twice a year (up to 10%). You will also have access to CPD provided internally, a competitive pension and maternity benefits and free quarterly snacks, flu vaccinations and DBS checks. Plus, you will have the opportunity to work from home on occasion and explore areas like Medical Retina, Glaucoma, as well as our private service, Freedom vision.
