We are seeking a highly skilled and passionate individual to join our team as a Climate Change and Energy Advisor. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in helping us achieve our goal of becoming a net-zero carbon borough by 2045.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to work at the forefront of energy and climate policy, engaging with internal and external stakeholders to drive the decarbonisation agenda. You will be responsible for managing and delivering our energy programme and carbon management, working closely with other teams to ensure the decarbonisation of the energy sector aligns with our delivery of inclusive and sustainable growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and deliver the council's energy programme and carbon management
  • Work closely with other teams to ensure the decarbonisation of the energy sector aligns with our delivery of inclusive and sustainable growth
  • Provide trusted advice and guidance on all energy issues, ensuring value for money alongside emission reductions in all decision-making
  • Manage the Council's Energy Officer, ensuring the successful delivery of the energy programme
Requirements
  • Is IT literate, has relevant energy experience, and can build effective relationships across the Council and with external stakeholders
  • Has an existing track record of delivering carbon reduction and energy programmes, delivering new solutions and approaches within a complex environment
  • Is an energetic, agile, and responsive colleague and manager, able to work collaboratively with staff, members, and stakeholders
  • Is passionate about the work of councils and the role of local democracy
  • Can spot potential issues and risks and have the experience and expertise to mitigate these
  • Has an excellent track record of successfully delivering multiple, concurrent projects and priorities
