Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Maintenance Manager to join our team at Canary Riverside Plaza Hotel, a 5-star luxury hotel in East London. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for the effective maintenance management of all engineering and maintenance operations within the hotel property.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the engineering team in the day-to-day engineering and maintenance operations of the hotel, including service standards, equipment schedules, and work schedules.
- Communicate with housekeeping to coordinate and prioritize maintenance activities for all suites, guest rooms, and public/back of house areas of the hotel property.
- Develop systems and procedures to ensure full compliance with health and safety regulations for guests and employees, as well as the functioning conditions for plants, machinery, and property.
- Communicate with government agencies to ensure full compliance with statutory regulations.
- Prepare capital and repairs and maintenance budgets for engineering.
- Perform daily checks around the hotel property.
- Conduct lift emergency release procedures as required.
- Diagnose, maintain, and repair mechanical equipment within the hotel property.
- Ensure good relationships are built with internal and external customers and suppliers.
- Ensure that full maintenance of all hotel fixtures and fittings is in safe condition and take action when any unsafe situations arise.
- Develop, implement, and direct all emergency programs.
- Develop, implement, and manage energy conservation programs for the property to minimize expenses.
- Coordinate renovation bidding, define the cost and scope of the project, and oversee the general contractor and subcontractors to ensure quality work is performed cost-effectively.
- Perform special projects and other responsibilities as assigned.
- Identify and introduce environmentally friendly systems and equipment.
- Monitor key performance indicators for the engineering department and take corrective action, as required, to improve equipment inventory, quality audit, productivity, and other objectives.
- In conjunction with the director of human resources, manage all team member-related activities, including recruitment, performance management, training, career (succession) planning, and employee relations (disciplinary) matters.
Requirements:
- At least 3 full years of experience as a maintenance manager in a 5-star luxury hotel property or a proactive assistant maintenance manager looking to step up their position.
- Solid knowledge of Opera.
- A good understanding of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and carpentry concepts.
- Ability to respond to emergencies when not physically in the hotel property.
- Works well under own initiative as well as a member of a team.
- Responds well to requests for help and understands instructions easily.
- Ability to solve practical problems in a quick and efficient manner.
- Ability to effectively communicate with internal and external guests.
- Must display diplomacy, patience, and tact at all times.
- Must be able to work well under pressure.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
