Clinical Leadership Opportunity in Adult Mental Health

We are seeking an experienced and ambitious RMN to join our team as a Clinical Lead in Adult Mental Health. Main Responsibilities:

You will have had varied and substantive experience of working as a Band 5 RMN, and will be confident, robust, approachable, and sensitive to the issues faced by people who are in the most acute and challenging phase of their journey towards recovery. As a team player, you will work creatively, and have the leadership desire to sometimes look further than your own shift and even your own ward, with the ability to see a wider perspective when making decisions that impact across a patient's pathway or the service.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Provide clinical leadership, advice, and support for junior members of the team.
  2. Assist the unit manager in leading development and changes on the ward.
  3. Support the deputy ward manager/ward manager in the management and leadership role, including contribution to the locality management team/MDT.
  4. Support the ward manager in achieving team objectives, targets, and quality standards.
  5. Contribute to the promotion of staff well-being and morale in the team through developing and maintaining supportive relationships, acting as a role model.
  6. Deal with complaints in accordance with Trust policies and procedures.
  7. Maintain adequate resources for the delivery of care.
  8. Assist in the implementation and monitoring of all Trust policies and procedures and local protocols on the ward and ensuring that clinical practice standards are adhered to and implemented.
  9. Provide management supervision and appraisal of the work of band 5 and below, this may include admin staff, using the knowledge and skills framework and be supportive and possibly assist in the delivery of group or individual clinical supervision.
  10. Complete risk assessments, clinical and non-clinical, ensure they are updated and that all staff know their responsibilities in relation to this.
  11. Deputise for the ward manager in their absence and other nursing staff when necessary.

Requirements:

  • Relevant professional qualification and registration e.g. RMN.
  • Relevant teaching and assessment qualification.
  • Relevant degree or working towards RMN.
  • Relevant management and leadership experience/training/qualification.
  • NVQ assessor/verifier.
Personal Qualities:
  • Experience of carrying out supervision to junior staff.
  • Proven experience of working with a relevant client group in a multi-agency service, presenting complex and sensitive information to large groups of people.
  • Ability to demonstrate leadership skills and to act up in the absence of the person in charge.
  • Experience of managing time and workload of self and others effectively and be able to delegate.
  • Evidence of taking lead in projects.
  • Research.
  • Experience of electronic patient records/RiO.
  • Experience of carrying out research and development.
  • Experience of carrying out audits.
  • To have experience in being involved in service improvement.
  • Experience of managing change.
  • Evidence of use of Essence of Care.
