About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Specialist Nurse to join our team at Somerset NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will have a specialist interest in providing the best care for Children Looked After (CLA) and a passion for emotional and mental health.

The ideal candidate will have extensive mental and emotional health experience and be able to develop and maintain a sustainable role for CLA mental and emotional health within our team. They will be required to undertake complex statutory health assessments, attend safeguarding meetings and support processes within our team to enable our CLA cohort to reach their full potential.

Main Responsibilities

The successful candidate will work alongside the Named Nurse for Children Looked After (CLA) and on behalf of the Trust to improve the recognition, assessment, co-ordination, access, and delivery of health care for Children Looked After, with a specific focus on those with additional mental and emotional health needs.

They will undertake statutory health assessments for Children Looked After specifically those with known additional mental and emotional health needs. They will work collaboratively with carers and multi-agency partners to progress health assessments, health care plans and enable a good understanding of the mental and emotional health care needs of the young people in their care.
