About the Role

We are seeking a skilled SEMH Teacher to join our team in a secondary, alternative provision setting. As a SEMH Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality, tailored education to students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lesson Planning and Delivery: Plan, deliver, and assess engaging lessons tailored to the needs of students with SEMH needs.
  • Classroom Environment: Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes both academic and personal growth.
  • Behaviour Management: Implement strategies to manage challenging behaviour and support students in developing coping mechanisms.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with support staff, parents, and external agencies to ensure comprehensive support for each student.
  • Progress Monitoring: Monitor and track student progress, adapting teaching methods as necessary to meet individual learning goals.
  • Contributions to the School Community: Contribute to the wider school community and participate in school events and initiatives.
Requirements
  • Qualifications: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential.
  • Experience: Experience working with students with SEMH needs in a secondary or alternative provision setting.
  • Understanding of SEMH Needs: Strong understanding of the challenges faced by students with SEMH needs and proven strategies for addressing these challenges.
  • Relationship Building: Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Resilience and Commitment: Resilience, patience, and a commitment to professional development.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
