Job Description

Water Systems Manager / Estate Compliance Specialist

We are seeking an experienced Water Systems Manager to join our team at Woodrow Mercer Healthcare Limited. As a key member of our Estates department, you will be responsible for implementing and managing operational systems related to water systems across our sites. Your primary objective will be to ensure compliance with relevant standards, legislation, and Trust directives.

You will serve as a 'Responsible Person' in line with HTM's for water systems, ensuring Authorising Engineers' audits, reviews, and advice are acted upon. You will monitor remedial work requirements, actively ensure timely completion, and collate estates operational backlog schedules. Additionally, you will utilise dedicated software systems to monitor compliance with water systems, expedite any requirements, and ascertain the position of compliance for water safety against agreed KPIs.

  • Audit, manage, and maintain compliance with the Trust's Water Safety Plan
  • Manage key Water Safety-related contractors, reviewing their performance on a regular basis
  • Monitor actions of the in-house team and their function with regard to water safety compliance and PPM programmes
  • Manage, review, and maintain all actions relating to Water Risk Assessments, sampling programs, and water system PPM activity logged on Compass software
  • Ensure all water safety-related records are adequate and acted upon as required
  • Facilitate and assist with Authorising Engineer (AE) audits and create/deliver action plans as needed
  • Lead to ensure all water safety samples are monitored, recorded, and results acted upon in accordance with Water Safety Plans and Legislation
  • Provide specialist advice on water safety solutions and lead on Water Safety Group approvals where applicable
  • Monitor records to ensure all assessments and routine periodic inspections are undertaken
  • Monitor PPM reports from FM software and Compass system, etc., to assure compliance and expedite any non-compliant exceptions
  • Ensure appropriate monitoring systems are in place to track compliance against statutory, national, regional, and Trust requirements, highlight concerns, and ensure systems are in place to regularly report out
  • Manage the requirements for the 'minimisation and control of legionella and other waterborne diseases' as Responsible Person (water) and the Management of Water Distribution systems
  • Monitor temperatures of domestic hot water and cold water supplies to site and all activities required by legislation and HTMs
  • Lead on the establishment of an agreed PPM schedule for all water systems
  • Assist Compliance Manager with collation and reporting of ERIC/PAM data requirements in required formats
  • Lead on expediting water policy and SOP requirements, updates, and renewals to maintain current compliance requirements
  • Manage subcontractors covering maintenance of designated systems and provide support to existing team members in delivery of their packages
  • Liaise with members of the Estates Team where necessary to coordinate work completion
  • Establish and maintain contacts within the hospital, with contractors, suppliers, and statutory bodies as required to provide high standards of estate care
  • Manage maintenance subcontractors, to monitor PPM completion and to provide technical support to all sections of the maintenance department as necessary

£60,000 - £80,000 per annum, depending on experience
