Job Title: Information Governance & Data Protection Assistant

Daily Rate: £20.00 per hour

About the Role:

The client is seeking support for the Information Governance and Data Protection Team. The role involves handling personal data and sensitive information on a regular basis.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist the Information and Compliance Manager and the Data Protection Officer in managing and maintaining compliance with data protection and freedom of information legislation.
  • Advise on matters related to data privacy legislation and have due regard for risk relating to processing operations, nature, scope, context, and purpose of processing.
  • Assist in the review of procedures, policies, privacy notices, and contracts relating to the processing of personal information.
  • Assist in the monitoring of compliance with data protection and related audits.
  • Assist in the maintenance of a register of processing activities and data life cycles, ensuring that each is compliant with legislation.
  • Assist in the establishment, testing, and monitoring of the data breach response process.
  • Maintain a log of any data privacy-related incidents together with tracking resulting actions.
  • Assist with issuing relevant data protection due diligence forms, such as screening questionnaires and data protection impact assessments.
  • Assist in the development and delivery of training as required to ensure that staff are adequately informed of policies and their obligations.
Requirements:
  • Previous experience of working in a local authority environment or a data protection function in a relevant public or private organization.
  • Confident in handling public enquiries and providing a high level of customer service.
  • Experience of working in a dynamic and complex environment.
  • Relevant qualification and knowledge of the Data Protection Act and UK GDPR.
  • Understanding of local and national government legislation.
  • Excellent IT skills, including SharePoint, Outlook, Word, and Excel.
