Job Description:

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Autism Support Worker to join our team at a school in Bristol. As an Autism Support Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting a child with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) on a 1:1 basis, helping them to access the curriculum and develop their social, emotional, and behavioral skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 support to a child with ASD, helping them to access the curriculum and develop their social, emotional, and behavioral skills.
  • Work closely with the child's teacher and other support staff to develop and implement individualized support plans.
  • Assist the child with their daily routines, including meal times, toileting, and personal care.
  • Help the child to develop their social skills, including communication, interaction, and relationships.
  • Support the child's emotional and behavioral well-being, including helping them to manage anxiety and challenging behaviors.
  • Collaborate with the child's teacher and other support staff to develop and implement strategies to support the child's learning and behavior.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children with ASD or other special educational needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of child development and learning theories.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
