Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Deputy Head of Service to join our team at South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust. This is an exciting opportunity to lead the operational management of our Occupational Therapy service, working closely with the Occupational Therapy Head of Service.

Main Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Leading the operational management of the Occupational Therapy service, ensuring high-quality patient care and effective service delivery.
  • Collaborating with the Occupational Therapy Head of Service to develop and implement service strategies, improving patient outcomes and service efficiency.
  • Managing a team of Occupational Therapists, providing guidance, support, and development opportunities to ensure excellent patient care and service delivery.
  • Developing and maintaining effective partnerships with stakeholders, including healthcare professionals, patients, and carers, to ensure seamless service delivery and patient-centered care.
  • Contributing to the development of service policies, procedures, and guidelines, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and best practice.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Significant experience at Band 7 level, with a strong background in Occupational Therapy and service management.
  • Excellent leadership and management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of recent NHS and Social Care developments, with the ability to apply this knowledge to service delivery.
  • Intermediate IT skills, with the ability to use clinical governance frameworks and other relevant systems.
