We are seeking a Senior Gynaecological Oncologist to join our dynamic team at the University Hospital of Wales (UHW). UHW is a leading tertiary referral centre known for its excellence in cancer care and research. As a Gynaecological Cancer Specialist Consultant, you will have the opportunity to make a significant impact in the field of gynae-oncology while enjoying the benefits of living and working in the vibrant capital city of Cardiff.

Our team of three highly skilled and experienced Gynae-Oncology Consultants provides comprehensive care for patients with gynaecological cancers. The role will involve the full spectrum of gynaecological surgery, outpatient clinics, and active participation in multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Main Duties:

  • Delivering high-quality clinical care to patients with gynaecological cancers
  • Performing complex oncological surgeries
  • Leading outpatient clinics and contributing to diagnostic pathways
  • Participating in MDT discussions and decision-making
  • Teaching and supervising junior medical staff, including registrars and medical students
  • Engaging in clinical research and contributing to ongoing developments in gynae-oncology
  • Participating in the on-call rota to ensure continuity of care for in-patients

Person Specification

Qualifications: On GMC Specialist Register for specialty / Specialty Registrar with CCT / CESR(CP) due within six months of interview date, Sub-specialist accreditation in Gynae-oncology (or projected to complete within 6 months)

Experience: Evidence of training and experience in managing patients with gynaecological cancer, Experience of managing advanced ovarian cancer patients, Experience of minimal access surgery in gynaecological cancers, Experience of managing advanced ovarian and peritoneal malignancies

Skills: Evidence of advanced level of surgical skill in gynaecological cancer surgery, Evidence of effective team and multidisciplinary working, Effective and demonstrable communication skills
